With the National Elections just months away, the ‘Ideas of India’ Summit 3.0 puts ‘The People’s Agenda’ at the forefront with eminent leaders from India’s two biggest national parties debating on the Topic “General Election 2024: Will Democracy Win”.

“PM Modi has ensured that democracy delivers. Only liberal values are not going to take you anywhere, it is through the delivery mechanism you would get there,” says seasoned politician and academician, Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Vice-Chairman, Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini and Member-NEC, BJP.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament, INC Thiruvananthapuram and Author, said, “We are an aspirational country and we must be. The kind of complacency we see when the Government says that everything is good is great rhetoric, but reality hurts. Start-ups have fired more people than they have hired in the past two years. Foreign investments have dropped.”

On being asked why BJP keeps winning, Dr. Tharoor remarked, “BJP has been better than us in reaching the last mile and get voters to the vote. They are also better funded.”

“The Government has taken care of higher the issues of the people, which has found its way on the highest echelons of policy making”, countered Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, “The Congress Government begins initiative that well but doesn’t take the programs anywhere. MGNREGA has been improved in the Modi Era to contribute into nation building.”

Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe further commented,  “It is the Congress Government, which engaged in otherization since Independence. The current Government has taken on inclusive growth. ”
