The Mumbai Indians may face a significant setback as their star pace bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, is expected to miss the IPL 2023 due to an injury that he has been unable to recover from.
According to sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India and IPL 2023, Bumrah’s back stress fracture is more severe than initially thought, and he is likely to miss most of the season. He has not been feeling comfortable for almost five months and may be facing a long break from cricket.
If India qualifies, Bumrah may also miss the ICC World Test Championship final in June, in addition to the IPL 2023, which runs from March to May. The BCCI is reportedly prioritizing his recovery for the ODI World Cup in October-November, and they are making efforts to get him back to full fitness for that tournament.
Bumrah has been out of action since he sustained a back injury during the T20I series against South Africa in September last year. He has missed significant events like the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup due to his injury.
